Feb 23, 2010 - Radio Nitro with Will Hanna and the Harker Twins set to launch Monday
INDIANAPOLIS – The internet radio scene will get a healthy dose of “Nitro” as Will Hanna and the Harker Twins, Kate and Diana, will launch their new show Radio Nitro on RaceFanRadio.com next Monday, Mar. 1, at 8 p.m. EST. The one-hour show will feature commentary and interviews with the top names in the sport with a behind-the-scenes, technical feel. 2009 NHRA Rookie of the Year Spencer Massey and 2009 NHRA Division 7 Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion Sean O’Bannon will be the show’s first guests.
Both Hanna and the Harker Twins have competed in the NHRA Top Alcohol ranks. Hanna, who got his start in the NHRA’s Jr. Dragster program, drove the ATC Racing Top Alcohol Funny Car from 2005 to 2007 and currently works as a Crew Chief/Consultant for several teams. Most recently, he was named the 2009 NHRA Division 3 Pro Sportsman Mechanic of the Year after tuning Chris Foster to the Division 3 Championship. He also owns/operates the popular internet websites InsideTopAlcohol.com, InsideCompRacing.com and InsideFastBrackets.com.
Kate and Diana Harker have followed in the footsteps of the racing family’s patriarch, Steve Harker, who has finished second nationally in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class for the past two years. The Australian natives also started in the Jr. Dragster ranks, working their way up to driving in the Top Alcohol Dragster class. Both have experience driving 270 mph injected-nitro dragsters, and currently share the driving duties of the family’s blown Top Alcohol Dragster.
“I’m really honored that Charlie Brown and Rick Carlton of RaceFanRadio.com have given us a shot at hosting a drag racing radio show,” said Hanna. “They have pretty much given us free reign over how to do the show, so the inmates will be running the asylum so to speak. We want to feature a mix of the NHRA Professional drivers along with the stars of the Top Alcohol, Pro Mod and Sportsman series.”
“At the end of the day, if we can give fans a technical look at the sport in a way they can understand, we’ll have achieved our goal,” added Hanna. “We hope to use our experience as drivers and crewmembers to bridge the gap from the stars of the sport to the casual fan.”
“We hope to share the thrills of drag racing with audience” comments Kate “There is a lot of talent in drag racing, not just drivers, but team managers, crew, PR and marketing personnel that make the sport dynamic. We plan to give Radio Nitro listeners content that is interesting and exciting. Hopefully listeners will pull from what we can share and apply the knowledge to their own endeavors.”
“Having Radio Nitro with Kate, Diana and Will on the network will create an entirely new audience focus for the network, and we couldn't be happier to have these NHRA professionals as part of RFN's programing family,” says RFN's Rick Carlton.
Radio Nitro will air live Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on RaceFanRadio.com. Fans will also be able to listen to archived shows or download as a podcast on RaceFanRadio.com. The show will feature guests from not only the NHRA, but ADRL, ANDRA (Australia), FIA (Europe), IHRA and other outlaw circuits.
